The teaching area that I focus on, early childhood education, is one of most developing stages. Most students at this learning period learn through project-oriented process rather than lectures. Physical play is a powerful vehicle in the development of young children. It helps young children learn about themselves, explore the world they are living in and obtain fundamental knowledge which may have impacts on their life-long learning. My personal theory of learning for this young group is that they learn by doing and should be maintained motivated for maximum learning results.
My philosophy of learning is related most to the constructivist model of learning among the theories listed in the article “The use of information technology to enhance management school education: A theoretical view by Leidner, D. And Javenpaa, S. (1995)”. I believe students learn better when they discover things themselves. My classroom instruction is involved with a wide range of hand-on activities to implement learner-centered active learning and enable learners to construct knowledge through exploration.
